RISK AND PLAY! - Impro Workshop with Shawn Kinley

RISK AND PLAY!

Most people work hard on the technique but miss the spirit of improvisation. Experience playfulness, risk-taking and failure on a fresh (and for some) new level.

We will do exercises that blur the lines of what you learned is RIGHT and discover where some limitations are keeping you too safe. We will play with ways to release control and create scenes that are memorable and different from your usual work. Become the improviser that knows the rules but plays on the edge and keeps themselves and their partners inspired and excited about being on stage.

Trainer: For 40 years Shawn Kinley has been performing and teaching all over the world. (55 countries at last count). With a background in Mime, Mask, Physical Theatre and Improvisation, Shawn brings a mix of styles and tools from many areas for all skill levels and backgrounds. He is based in Canada at The Loose Moose Theatre where he performs, directs, teaches and creates when he is not travelling the world 6 months of the year. He worked directly with Keith Johnstone for more than 20 years and has taught in the National Theatres and Operas of Iceland, Norway, Slovenia, Scotland as well as for Scientists in Israel, Technology managers in Dubai, Lawyers in the U.S., Children everywhere and various Universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Tokyo, and more.
